My name is Shinichiro Yamaguchi. I'm a principal of Kawaguchi Special Needs School. This is my third year as this school’s principal.

 Our school is a special needs school for intellectual disabilities.

Our school has 289 elementary school students and 109 junior high school students.

And the Hatogaya branch school opened in Hatogaya High School in April 2023. This branch school has 48 high school students.

I always tell students, the staff and parents that our school's mission is to support the independence and social participation of all students.

Currently, there are many different ideas and political positions on how to understand and approach DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion). But our (those involved in special needs education) goal is a more inclusive society.

This mission is so challenging. Each student has many challenges to be independent.

But they have a lot of potential and cheerfulness.

We will always patiently teach and support them.

  私の名前は山口伸一郎と言います。川口特別支援学校の校長です。この学校の校長になって３年になります。

本校は、知的障害がある児童生徒が学ぶ特別支援学校です。本校には、小学部２８９人、中学部１０９人の児童生徒がいます。

  また、２０２３（令和５）年４月には、鳩ケ谷高等学校の中に、「鳩ケ谷分校」が開校しました。この分校には、高等部４８人の生徒がいます。

  私は、いつも、児童生徒の皆さん、教職員や保護者の方々に「私たちの学校（特別支援学校）の使命（ミッション）は、児童生徒一人一人の自立と社会参加を実現することだ」とお話ししています。

  現在、DEI：Diversity（多様性）、Equity（公平性）、Inclusion（包括性）をどう理解し、どのように向き合うかについては、様々な考え方や政治姿勢があります。しかし、私たち、特別支援教育に携わる者がめざすのは、よりインクルーシブな社会です。

  このミッション（使命）は簡単ではありません。それぞれの児童生徒が、自立に向けて、様々な課題を抱えています。しかし、みんな、たくさんの可能性と快活さを持っています。私たちは、常に、ねばり強く教え、支援していきます。
